Class Descriptions

This class is an introduction to machines designed for non-technicians. It provides an overview of the IGT machine platforms and the components inside the machines. Through both lecture and discussion formats, students are familiarized with the IGT machines and product information resources.

This class familiarizes technicians with hardware for the IGT Progressive Gaming product line through lecture, discussion, and a practical exercise format. Coursework covers machine assemblies and software as well as extensive setup procedures. The DCU installation and configuration, Smart Interface board, Universal Game Module, Jackpot Trigger Device, and Mystery Progressive installations are covered.

This class combines lecture, discussion, and a practical exercise format to familiarize technicians with the IGT Progressive Gaming SPC. Coursework includes reviewing machine assemblies and software. The SPC installation and configuration, Smart Interface board, EGM configuration, Universal Game module, Jackpot Trigger device, power distribution board, flash programming, and troubleshooting the SPC are also covered.

This class is for technicians desiring hands-on instruction on proper preventive maintenance procedures on IGT gaming machines. Procedures taught in this class, when performed regularly, significantly increase the functional life of gaming machines.

This class is designed to provide gaming agents with a better understanding of machine operations. Students learn about safety, IGT products, machine components, game operation, information resources, reel assemblies and PAR sheets, bill acceptors, logic components, program software and components, and theft scenarios through lecture, discussion, and hands-on practice.

This class explains the operation and troubleshooting of machines with the 80960 platform (Game King® Series, S2000® Series, and Reel Touch® machines). This course includes information on platforms and components, electronics, power, firmware and software, communications, and displays and touchscreens.

Prerequisite: MT412 AVP Service and Troubleshooting

This class is designed for slot technicians and bench technicians who are required to work on IGT processor boards. Students learn how to perform a non-destructive repair on the most common types of components and circuits found on boards in use in IGT machines. Class discussion covers fabrication basics, circuit board configurations, components and mounting techniques, as well as component removal, safety, and appropriate equipment. Students are required to complete a number of soldering exercises during the class.

This class is designed for technicians who repair IGT processor boards utilizing both the fabrication and non-destructive repair methods. Coursework includes lecture, demonstration, and practical exercises in the removal, repair, and replacement of board pads and traces. Discussions cover: circuit board elements and configurations; pre-tinning; conductor repair; removal of eyelets, rivets and terminals; repair of lifted or missing terminal pads; and recoating.

Prerequisite: MT625

This class focuses on installation, setup, and maintenance of the IGT Progressive Controller (IPC). Coursework includes IPC game features and capabilities, operations, and reports. Lectures, discussion, demonstration, and hands-on exercises are used to present a solid understanding of the latest firmware and setup.

This class is focused on the installation, setup, and maintenance of the IGT S3000.  Specifically, the material covered will include S3000 subassemblies, the 4.0 Brainbox, Ascent software installation and diagnostics and the implementation of Synchronized Bank Lighting. This class uses lecture, discussion, and demonstration along with hands-on exercises to insure a solid understanding of this EGM.

This class is focused on the installation, setup, and maintenance of the IGT Crystal Dual.  Specifically, the material covered will include Crystal Dual subassemblies, the 4.0 Brainbox, Ascent software installation and diagnostics. This class uses lecture, discussion, and demonstration along with hands-on exercises to insure a solid understanding of this EGM.

This class combines lecture, discussion, and a practical exercise format to familiarize technicians with a solid understanding of each internal component and its theory of operation. This course explains the operation of all 80960 processor based games. This class uses hands on situations to develop the skills needed to identify, isolate, and replace machine assemblies.

This class is designed to give technicians a solid understanding of each internal component inside the AVP® machine and the accompanying theory of operation. Coursework includes explanations of the operation of all AVP® machines. Students participate in hands-on exercises to develop the skills needed to identify, isolate, and replace machine assemblies and troubleshoot machine problems on the casino floor. They learn about safety, platforms, components, AVP® electronics, displays, power distributions, software, program installation, licensing, and ported/emulated software. Information resources, machine communications, bill acceptors, printers, reel strips, and PAR sheets are also discussed.

This class is designed to teach advanced troubleshooting skills. Technicians refine their techniques using proper steps to diagnosing and repair specific problems in IGT machines. Additional coursework includes testing techniques, and a deeper understanding of power and communications functions, firmware, software, and service messages.

A combination of lecture, discussion, and hands-on practice with a multi-meter and machine wiring diagrams are used in this class to diagnose machine problems.

This class focuses on installation, setup, and maintenance of the IGT Multi-Player System (M-P Series®). Coursework covers server features and capabilities, operations, and reports. Hands-on practice covering installation and setup of a live roulette wheel and the animated (video) system are also included.

This class focuses on installation, setup, and maintenance of the IGT Multi-Player System (M-P Series®) with the King Wheel. This class is for technicians requiring an understanding of the hardware and software associated with the Advantage® Bonus System (ABS). Coursework covers machine hardware, installation, configuration and troubleshooting of the ABS components.

This class is designed for technicians requiring an understanding of the sb NexGen II and UGA hardware. Through lecture, demonstration, and hands-on practice, the technician will learn: the sb NexGen II’s system compatibility; system and machine connectivity for the sb NexGen II hardware; connectivity for the different versions of the UGA hardware; installation and recommended placement of sb NexGen II and UGA in IGT machines; sb NexGen II diagnostic menus; and troubleshooting.

Students learn to add AVP® machines to an IGT sbX Floor Manager and Media Manager environment through a combination of lecture, discussion, and hands-on practice. Coursework also includes Troubleshooting and an introduction to the sbX User Interface application.

This class provides familiarization of AVP® TrimLine components and step-by-step procedures for converting an AVP® TrimLine machine with an AVP® 2.0 Brain Box to an AVP® 3.0 Brain Box. An actual hands-on conversion is performed during the class.
Prerequisite: Understanding of AVP® software, software-loading procedures, and EGM optioning procedures.

This class provides a listing of all IGT cabinet models originally manufactured for use with a Cathode Ray Tube (CRT) monitor that are capable of converting to an LCD flat screen monitor. Step-by-step procedures are provided for each model and a hands-on conversion is performed during the class.

This class provides familiarization of the hardware, modules, and harnessing involved in a conversion, and step-by-step procedures for converting an AVP® EGM by replacing the AVP® 2.5 Brain Box with an AVP® 3.0 Brain Box. An actual hands-on conversion is performed during the class.
Prerequisite: Understanding of AVP® software, software-loading procedures, and EGM optioning procedures.

This class provides a familiarization of the common components of the S AVP® machine and step-by-step procedures for converting the standard white lighting color scheme to RGB (red, green, and blue) reel glass and reel back lighting used with RGB theme software. An actual hands-on conversion is performed during the class.
Prerequisite: Understanding of the IGT USB download utility, AVP® software, software loading procedures, and EGM optioning procedures.

This class provides an overview of Dynamic buttons, their related components, and a list of AVP® cabinet models available for conversion to a 10- or 14-button Dynamic panel (edge-lit and non-edge-lit Dynamic buttons). Step-by-step procedures are provided for converting an EGM from static-style buttons or from a 10-button Dynamic panel to a 14-button Dynamic configuration. An actual hands-on conversion is performed during the class.
Prerequisite: Understanding of the IGT USB download utility, AVP® software, software loading procedures, and EGM optioning procedures.

This class provides a familiarization of the common S AVP® components, and step-by-step procedures for converting an S AVP® machine with mechanical (stepper) reels to a 3-, 4-, or 5-reel configuration. The component kit used for this course contains the required parts to convert an S AVP® 3-reel to a 5-reel machine. An actual hands-on conversion is performed during the class.
Prerequisite: Understanding of the IGT USB download utility, AVP® software, software loading procedures, and EGM optioning procedures.

This class provides a familiarization of the AVP® Slant and Slant Conversion (AVP®-ready machine converted from 80960 to AVP® 2.0) cabinets and their components, and step-by-step procedures to convert an AVP® Slant Top machine with an AVP® 2.0 Brain Box to an AVP® 3.0 Brain Box. An actual hands-on conversion is performed during the class.
Prerequisite: Understanding of AVP® software, software-loading procedures, and EGM optioning procedures.

This class is designed to provide an overview of EGM Operating System firmware. This seminar can be customized for machines with the IGT 80960 processor (Game King®, Vision, and S2000®) or AVP® machines. Topics of this seminar include machine menus, how to change options, how to read paytables, Operator and Attendant menus, Game Accounting, Clear Chip and Key Chip modes, game selection, maximum bet, changing options and option definition.

This class combines lecture, discussion, and a practical exercise format to familiarize technicians with the IGT 80960 and AVP® product lines. Coursework includes reviewing machine assemblies and software. Topics include safety,platforms, differences and similarities of old and new machines, identifying machine types, internal components. Hands-on exercises include resolving disputes, clearing simple jams, routine floor maintenance, and understanding how to read and explain paytables.

This class is a follow-up to MT410 and is designed for slot technicians. A combination of lecture, discussion, and hands-on practice, with emphasis on a multi-meter and machine wiring, are included. Technical skills for troubleshooting machines using wiring diagrams for the 80960 and meters are emphasized.

Prerequisite: MT 410

This class is designed for bench technicians and covers techniques for troubleshooting IGT processor boards using schematics and an oscilloscope. Lectures, discussion, and demonstration are used to familiarize students with in-depth operating characteristics of 80960 processor boards and their interaction with other devices in the machine.
